The City of Renton Public Works Department is seeking a qualified individual to join our team as the Airport Director for the Renton Airport. The Renton Airport is located at the southern end of Lake Washington in the Seattle area, and one of the few facilities that has both a paved runway as well as a seaplane ramp. In addition to having general aviation uses, the facility also has designated manufacturing space at the airport due to the immediate adjacency of Boeing Company ‘s 737 Manufacturing Plant which utilize the airport as the departure point for every new Boeing 737 aircraft produced. Under general direction of the Public Works Administrator, the selected individual will be responsible to manage, direct, and coordinate the activities, operations, and maintenance at the Renton Airport.

Managing Engineer

King County International Airport/Boeing Field (KCIA) is searching for an innovative and great people leader to serve as Managing Engineer. Reporting to the Airport Director, this position manages the planning and delivery of the Airport Capital Improvement Program and oversees the Engineering and Planning Services of the Airport. The work includes day-to-day administrative functions, personnel development, and technical reviews associated with the Airport CIP project management. Presentations to stakeholders including tenants, community representatives, Airport Roundtable, the public, and elected officials is a requirement of this position.

As a Senior Aviation Planning Project Manager at Mead & Hunt, you’ll be responsible for:

  • Leading aviation planning projects and working collaboratively to lead project teams
  • Preparing airport planning documents
  • Client and team relationship management and communications
  • Frequent (30-40%) travel and a valid driver’s license is required
Our ideal candidate will have:
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Urban Planning, Environmental Science or Engineering, Civil Engineering, Architecture, Aviation Management, English, or a related field from an accredited four-year college or university
    • 7+ years of experience with degree in the following areas or 11+ years’ experience of the same with no degree:
    • Aviation Planning Project Management experience at non-hub, small, medium, and large hub airports
    • Research, analysis, and creation of aviation planning documents
    • Excellent communication skills and ability to create exceptional client relationships
    • Experience with simulation modeling for aircraft operations, airfield vehicle movements, and/or airline passengers
    • Experience with business development and project interviews
    • Mentorship/Leadership of project teams and junior planning staff
  • Knowledge of FAA guidance and regulations
  • AICP, AIA, AAAE, PE or other relevant certification
